The top of the radiator mounting panel needed some modification. The panel has an inlet pipe for directing air towards the air filter on the standard Series 2 normally aspirated engine. As I am installing a Supercharged AJ16 engine, the air inlet is on the other side of the engine. Rather than leave the panel alone I decided to modify it to direct air to the right hand side of the engine bay. I dont think it is really necessary but it would look odd directing air towards the exhaust pipes. In addition it is a bolt on panel so could easily be swapped out for an original panel if preferred later on.
The pictures below show the panel before and after modification.
Next up – An XJS joins the family
Hi
Just came upon your site when searching for any info on XJR6 transplants !
Guess what, I am just about to embark upon the same ( XJR6 into series 2 ( coupe) ) project !
I have been looking at different ECU options, and agree that the standard one is to be preferred
I have the Coupe, all nicely refreshed ( welded) , and now a rolling shell, and just purchased an’ EBAY special’ XJR6 , I plan to fit a manual gearbox, and have found a Getrag 290.
Can you tell me which part of the XJS engine mounts are needed ? I am having problems getting them second hand and might have to buy new 🙁
I am on jaguarforums as Jim G, and based in the north of England.
Jim
Hi Jim,
Thanks for the comment. I used all of the XJS engine mounts. The metal brackets that go on the engine, the rubber mounts and the bracket that goes on the subframe.

Try http://www.grublogger.co.uk as the guy has split numerous XJS’s.
